The lotus takes root in murky, muddy water and rises on buoyant stems to form magnificent flowers that have long represented purity, elegance and transformation. Its habit of folding in the evenings and opening anew each morning demonstrates going within in order to blossom again in renewed glory. For these reasons, the exquisite blooms have been symbols of awakening and enlightenment since ancient times.
