Meet Judith

I was born a poet. At the age of four during a bit of a tantrum, I began asking the big questions, and never stopped. As a nature photographer, I could really look, really see exquisite beauty, grand and minute, exotic and just outside the door. Everywhere! As an acupuncturist, my eyes opened to the sublime elegance inside each of us. In honor of the gift of being alive amidst so much splendor, I endeavor to live in conscious awareness of it, and to help others do the same. Teaching acupuncture fit that perfectly, and facilitating Portal workshops continues it.

After a ten year state of emergency I endured as a child, I embarked on a 35 year journey of continuing self-discovery and healing. In 2003 I developed cancer, as a result of the emotional fallout from those early events. Surgery allowed me to physically let go of all the things I worked through and released in subtler ways during all my years of proactive healing. And it directed me to what remained to be done: to create poems that inspire deep, honest and loving connections with our own selves, help us avoid unnecessary suffering, inspire lives of joy and service; and to offer these poems in ways that offer encouragement and healing, individually and in community.

In my acupuncture practice, I saw daily evidence of something that radically changed my world. We have within us something that is strong, unsullied, utterly dependable, wise and radiant. We can call it anything we like. And to the extent that we can get out of the way of it, we blossom anew. This thing infuses everything, and is the object of my endless fascination.

I believe that love prevails and healing is real.
